Turbo Monkey

aTech app

The technician's side of the suite.

For technicians

A tech shouldn't need a second screen or a second login to see how the week is going, what's in the queue, or what this vehicle is due for. aTech puts all of that in Shopmonkey itself.

The Comments & Recommendations box on RO 20412, a 2015 BMW 335i for Priya Nair, holding a technician's rough note about a cylinder 4 misfire with code P0304, four worn coils, plugs gapped out to .055, a seeping valve cover gasket and rear pads down to 3 mm, with a Rewrite Notes button beneath it.
Rewrite Notes sits under the note on the order. One click cleans up the wording; the original is kept locally and undo never expires. Westbrook Auto Works is a made-up shop, so every name and number on it is invented.

What it does

Tech Dashboard is an entry in Shopmonkey's left rail. It opens the technician's week: billed hours so far, daily average, projected week, bonus status, a day-by-day chart and the open work queue. The Technician Dashboard page describes it in detail.

The RepairTrac tile on the dashboard shows the shop's task board at a glance: how many tasks are not started, in progress and completed, and up to five open tasks with title, RO number, status and the assignee's first name. Nothing private shows on that tile.

Rewrite Notes is one button beside the tech-notes box on a work order. One click rewrites the note into clean, customer-ready wording and puts it back in the box. It never runs on its own. After every rewrite the button turns into Undo and stays Undo until you use it, and the last twenty-five originals are kept on that computer. If anything fails, the original text is left exactly as it was.

Service Intervals & Recalls is a button in the Vehicle tab's Quick Reference. It reads the VIN from the order on the server side and shows service intervals, open NHTSA recalls, technical service bulletins and fluid specifications. It's read-only and writes nothing to the order. If an order has no VIN, you can type one in.

Shop Chat is in the rail as well, so the bay and the counter are one message apart.

Why it matters to a shop

Most of what a tech needs during the day is already in Shopmonkey or on the shop's task board. It's just four clicks and a tab away each time. aTech puts it where the tech already is: the week in the rail, the tasks on the dashboard, the rewrite button beside the notes, and the vehicle's history in the Vehicle tab.

Real screens from the extension. Most were shot against Westbrook Auto Works, a made-up shop, so every name and number in them is invented. Where a shot comes from a live shop, the caption says so and says what's blurred.
